NEWALPHA 14.5A R4

Local projects,
safer photo handoffs.

Alpha 14.5a R4 is the current downloadable private development candidate. It strengthens Local Projects, autosave and preferences, measurement, themes, notifications, Help routing, photo attachment and KMZ photo restoration, plus boundary-scoped print and output. FiberAtlas continues to document user decisions without acting as engineering authority.

What ships in R4

Priority 0101

Organized Local Projects

Create multiple boundary-aware Local Projects, keep their standard folders nested together, and hand work between project areas without turning the workspace into one flat list.

Priority 0202

Reliable daily controls

Use default-on autosave, saved preferences, movable ruler points with selectable units, light and dark themes, typed notifications, and repaired Help routing.

Priority 0303

Photos and scoped print

Attach photos without collapsing the desktop flow, restore embedded photo references when KMZ projects reopen, and prepare print or output for a selected Local Project, Area, or Phase.

Verified in Alpha 15 source — not in the current R4 download

Route intelligence with a clear boundary

Source 0101

Bidirectional route associations

Selecting a route now summarizes its recorded point connections, connected containers, and equipment housed at those containers. New route-first and point-first placement records the same stable relationship.

Source 0202

Boundary-scoped topology

Association summaries can use the Local Project, Area, or Phase boundary. Hidden folders remain included, and connected service records are deduplicated without claiming splice, capacity, or serving responsibility.

Source 0303

Testeroni 6 verified

BB-001 reports 4 Pedestals, 1 Small HH, 1 Large HH, 1 Splice Closure, 7 direct route connections, and 11 connected ONTs after reviewed legacy alignment. The complete desktop check passed 425 tests.

Release

Installer is not code-signed

Windows may show an Unknown publisher warning until Authenticode signing is added.

FA-001
Release

R4 remains a private development candidate

The Setup and Portable files are available for tester evaluation, but neither is presented as a public production release.

FA-002
Topology

R4 can miss visually aligned legacy assets

Older projects can contain points that look centered on a route while their saved coordinates are slightly offset. The current R4 download may omit those assets from a route summary; the reviewed repair is verified in Alpha 15 source and awaits packaging.

FA-003
Print

Print With Map is not included in R4

R4 supports scoped project output. Roads, Terrain, Satellite imagery, attribution, and geometry-only fallback inside a printable map composition remain Alpha 15 work.

FA-004
Output

PDF sheets exclude provider basemaps

Generated sheets contain recorded project geometry only. ArcGIS and other provider tiles are not embedded.

FA-005
Network

Real SMB/UNC behavior is untested

Local disposable Shared Workspace testing passed, but it is not a substitute for acceptance testing on a real customer-controlled network share.

FA-006
Boundary

FiberAtlas does not approve engineering

The application records, organizes, measures, and exports user-created work. Engineering and construction decisions remain with qualified project personnel.

FA-007

Verified in Alpha 14.5a R4

Safer project work,
kept local and portable.

The candidate focuses on recording, organizing, measuring, and exporting user-created OSP project data. Engineering decisions remain with the user and qualified project professionals.

  1. 01

Create multiple Local Projects with clear project boundaries, nested standard folders, Areas and Phases, and intentional working-project handoff.

  2. 02

Keep autosave enabled by default and persist user preferences so daily safety settings survive restarts.

  3. 03

Upgrade the ruler with selectable units and movable measurement points for correcting an imprecise click.

  4. 04

Add light and dark application themes while preserving the compact, map-dominant workspace.

  5. 05

Separate alerts from routine actions with typed notification colors and short automatic dismissal for noncritical messages.

  6. 06

Repair Help destinations so support, workflow, and release links route to the intended pages.

  7. 07

Harden asset photo attachment and restore embedded photo references after supported KML/KMZ projects are reopened.

  8. 08

Keep Local Project, Area, and Phase print and output scoped to the selected boundary without claiming engineering approval or embedding provider tiles.
